If you share a flat with a pet, it is normal for you to have your mobile phone full of photos of them. Because that’s how it is, we love to show off our little animals, their impossible poses, the tricks they are capable of doing or how adorable they look while they nap.

Aware of this, Apple has proposed that we take better photos of our pets in the new edition of its “Shot on iPhone” campaign. Photographer Jason Nocito has been responsible for photographing a dozen pets using the iPhone 12 Pro and the High-Key Light Mono effect, which provides studio lighting for portraits.

In addition to the outdoor campaign that will bring these mascots to the streets of various cities around the world, Apple will offer a free virtual class taught by Jason Nocito on July 29. In it, he will teach iPhone users how to take better photos of their pets.

Meanwhile, the company has shared a series of tips that the photographer always takes into account when taking pictures of pets:

  • To get and hold your pet’s attention, hold a toy or treat over the camera lens
  • If you’re shooting outdoors, place your pet in indirect light and against a wall or plain background.
  • Place your pet in the center of the frame.
  • If you’re having trouble getting your pet to pose with High-Key Light Mono mode, take some normal photos with portrait mode. From there, you can apply the High-Key Light Mono effect later.
  • Lastly, shoot lots of different photos and keep the best one.

By the way, the agency behind this work is TBWAMedia Arts Lab.

I could not count how many times a mockup has saved my life. And like me, millions of designers around the world. But if you are not very into the world of graphic design, that word may sound like Chinese to you, so I’m going to tell you a bit about what it is about.

Mockups are a kind of photomontage that allows designers to show a preview of how your designs would look applied to different formats. For example, let’s say you are commissioned to design an illustration for a mug and when you have it finished, the client wants to see how the design would look on the mug. Well, instead of having to print a real mug (with the consequent expense that this entails), with a mockup you can make a virtual montage that allows you to see roughly how the illustration would look on the mug.

If you are still studying, mockups can also be a good way to show your work in your portfolio. This gives a more professional appearance and can help you bring your designs to life, putting them in context so that they are much better understood.

There are many types of mockups ranging from business cards, brochures, books, posters, t-shirts, billboards … But if you don’t know where to look for them, here are my favorite places where you can find free and quality mockups .

Hope you find it useful!

GraphicBurger

This is one of my favorite sites to download free mockups. The only bad thing is that they are not categorized and you have to go looking around the web to find what you are looking for. However, the quality of the mockups and that they are free for personal and commercial use, makes it worth the effort.

Behance

Behance can also be a good place to find free mockups. And is that many designers use this platform to upload their photomontages and thus make them available to anyone who wants to use them. Of course, take a good look before downloading if they are suitable for personal or commercial use.

Freepik

I have spoken to you Freepik several times already, but it is a page that I use a lot in my day to day. Among other things, here you can also find mockups, so it is worth taking a look. On the positive side, it has a fairly powerful search engine (and in Spanish!) And a wide variety of resources. The bad thing is that in the free version (it has a premium that can be paid monthly or annually) it has the condition of use to mention the author.

Mockup Planet

Mockup Planet is a website that collects free mock-ups and has a fairly extensive catalog. You also have them sorted by categories, although the bad part is that if you want to download one, it makes you share it on social networks before or wait 30 seconds. I don’t use it too much for that, but it is an option that you can take into account if you do not find what you are looking for in the previous ones.

Dribbble

With Dribbble it happens a bit like with Behance. Despite not being a platform designed for this, there are many users who share their free mockups with the community so that whoever wants to can use them freely.

Free Design Resources

This is a very interesting website that collects resources for graphic designers. In addition to mockups, they also have fonts, templates and vectors, so I would bookmark them if you dedicate yourself to design.

MockupFree

Although I don’t like the design of this page very much (it is full of advertising) and that Some of the mockups they have seem a bit old, I also wanted to include MockupFree in this list because they have a pretty big catalog. It depends on what you are looking for, it may be useful for you.

The tranquility that summer brings with its intensive working day and vacation days can be a good time to update those topics that you have pending and that the rest of the year you cannot or do not feel like doing. If creating or updating your portfolio is one of them, I am going to give you a hand because I have compiled the best platforms to create your online portfolio.

These are 8 platforms that allow you to upload your creations so that you can make yourself known, find a new job or other types of opportunities. Each of them is different and I have tried to tell you about their main characteristics, functionalities and strengths. I have also tried to ensure that there is variety and I have selected both free and paid so that you can choose the one that best suits your needs and preferences.

I hope they are useful to you and that you can create a beautiful portfolio. Ah! And if you know of another that you think is good enough to be in this collection, leave it in the comments to add it.

Behance

It is probably the most popular platform for online portfolios. And the reasons for its success are many. The first is that it is completely free. The second, that it offers great versatility when uploading your work. And the third, that it has become a portal where creatives from all over the world go in search of inspiration. This means that our works can be seen by thousands of people and, in this way, it is also a way to promote yourself as a professional. The only bad thing I see is that you have no control over the interface, which depends on the platform itself.

Domestika

Domestika is much more than a place to hang your portfolio, it is a community where you can find courses, a blog with tips or even a section with offers of job. Registering is free and uploading your works too, the only paid part is the online courses, but I recommend that you take a look because they are very interesting and usually have promotions at very affordable prices.

Carbonmade

Carbonmade is a platform similar to the previous one and allows you to create your portfolio starting from different templates and blocks that you can integrate. They have different rates (8 dollars a month is the cheapest) and they offer different functionalities such as analytics, adding your own domain, technical support…
